I just got an used T43 perfectly working mainboard with my perfectly working T40
lcd screen. All worked together flawlessly and I was so happy & tighten all the screws.
Surprisely I got an error message and said " unregconized mini pci wireless card and remove it "
So I opened the laptop again and replaced another working one. The same error. I replaced
with following wifi cards and none work and same error message.
Philip FRU 91P7301
Intel FRU 91P7267
Intel FRU 93P3483
Cisco FRU 26P8496
I updated the latest firmware, system update, windows xp update downloaded from IBM.
I even cleaned the socket and nearby, still nothing. I was thinking the last solution to use a
pc mcia wireless adaptor. But I really want to find out the core problem and solution, in order to
benefit all readers on this forum for times to come.

T43s (given that's the board that you're using) are very specific on which wireless card they'll accept, and "1802 hack" doesn't work on them.

Thanks for your reply and valuable infos. From the IBM configuration utility, it said the board model was #1871Y11 .ajkula66 wrote:T43s (given that's the board that you're using) are very specific on which wireless card they'll accept, and "1802 hack" doesn't work on them.

I went back to IBM download section and entered exactly 1871, model y11 and it said Intel BG wireless card. So I searched
all wifi cards and found one B/G , plugged it in and it worked right away and now I installed proper driver and can surf Internet.
Problem solved and million of thanks to you.
