In the net you can find much more technical explanations but in brief:
* DVD-R/RW is the system that has got its winds since it is the format that comercial DVD movies are recorded, well sort of, it is the same format but also with areas that our burners can´t (CSS)
* DVD+R/RW a newer format developed by a different group of companies in the industry. (First DVD player may no be able to read them, and till recently slightly more expensive, other than that equally good)
* DVD-RAM was the very first and its behaviour is similar to a HDD. The contents dont have to be in continous sectors or similar protocols. The bad is that the media is much more expensive. The good?, each sector can be written up to 100.000 times (vs. 1000 on -/+RW) Teh average user sold not care about this system.

Thanks for you answer.
Actually I think that the possibility of having a "pseudo-HD" at a low cost (here in Italy a DVD-RAM is 3 euro) can be very interesting...

Cheers, C.

Wow, that is a good price in the old continent. Do you pay piracy taxes for DVD media there???

(For the lucky american audience, in some countries in Europe ALL Virgin CDs and DVDs have a special heavy tax to support the music and movie industry. And yes, in spite of it, you still cannot make illegal copies!!!. When I came from US I brough with me plenty of DVD-Rs  )

Hi,

I bought a DVD-RAM but my T42p isn't able to write on it. In this forum I found a topic on the matter and it seems that I should install a specific driver.
Is it true? What about DLA? My TP told me that it can read the DVD-RAM but can't write on it. Why??

Thanks, C.
