Hi,
I have a T42 (actually it's a T42 mobo in a T41 case) with WinXP SP3. The problem I'm having is that sometimes when resuming from sleep one of the audio channels will be garbled. I don't even think I always notice it since the other channel still plays fine, but sometimes when listening to music it becomes apparent that there's a distortion and then I can confirm the problem by switch the balance back and forth (since I usually have my laptop plugged into my stereo).
As I said, this only happens after waking the computer up from sleep mode and apparently only after several sleep/wake cycles though I'm not positive about that.
The best solution I've found is to restart the computer completely. The audio will always be fine after a fresh boot. I used to try just re-sleepig and waking the computer since that was faster than a reboot, but while it works sometimes, other times it doesn't. Sometimes the audio channel getting distorted will even change when sleeping and waking again. I've never had both channels distorted, though, only one or the other.
The only other forum topics I found that seem to deal with a similar problemare these:
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=62186
and
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=69984
Though neither of those is related to the T4x series.
I did try re-installing the driver, but it didn't help.
So does anyone have any experience with this problem? Know what the ultimate cause is? Know of a permanent solution? Or alternatively, know of some easier workaround solution than a reboot?
Thanks in advance.
