T40p vista problem!!!

#1 Post by plmijn » Fri Jul 17, 2009 7:53 pm

Hi all,

I recently installed vista on the T40p, but I encounter one problem. I used to see a green volume indicator onscreen when I press the volume buttons (up, down or mute). But those onscreen indicators disappear in vista. I have installed the hotkey driver already. But I still can't resolve this problem. Can anybody help me?

You need the system interface driver for Vista. At least I did on my R60, but I don't know about the T40p.

There are several divers and utilities that are needed for a ThinkPad running Vista. Just go to their site (Lenovo.com) and find the page that supports your machine. System Interface Driver is the first one you need in order to start. Then, for the volume indicators, download and install the Hot Key utility.

Remember, that one must download the feature, run it, and then go to C:\Drivers to install it. A two step process.

There are numerous other utilities and drivers available for your machine there, too.

thank you for the reply. But which driver I should download to fix the problem, as I have installed the HotKey and Keyboard customization drivers couple of time.

It's the system interface driver. It's right on the page linked by dsvochak.

Thank you so much guys, it's working now. The function is back to normal now, I can see the volume indicator. Except when I press volume up or down, the volume icon in the system tray doesn't show any difference. But when I press the mute button, the icon can show that the volume is mute.
