T40 power problems

Have an Interesting problem with an IBM T40 that used to work fine. When the addapter is plugged in sometimes it will charge the battery and other times it won't (battery light illuminates) As soon as the power button is pressed however (whether connected to mains supply or not) screen flickers and battery light dies. When you push the power button again nothing happens?

Could this be another symptom of the dreaded graphics card coming away from the board??

Any help would be much appreciated!

Is the AC jack loose? Can you try another power adapter?

checked to AC Jack to the connector on the board with a multimeter for continuity and voltage and tryed three known working adapters, to no availe.

If it is the GPU, the computer should try to boot. Seems to be a power problem. Look for any loose inductors.
