T42 Black Screen Problem

My T42 had been in use for 4 years and last week its screen suddenly turned to black. An extended monitor worked well though. When restarting, the IBM and Windows screen can show up. But after that, everything is black. Actually, it's not really all black, I can see the windows very very dimly on the screen.

I know there might be a lot of discussion on this topic. But I am new here and hoping somebody can give me directions. Thanks.

Yes, the backlight is out. First thing to try is an inverter. If the CCF is out, then it is time to replace the panel or the backlight. The later is a PITA job.
