Faulty assembly?

#1 Post by ThinkPad » Sun Feb 06, 2005 10:31 pm

I had IBM replace my faulty modem. I got it back and it seems this little notch is sticking out. It that normal, or did they put it back incorrectly.

It's not normal. It should go under, not above the hinge.

Thats what I was thinking. How tedious would it be to get that removed and reinstalled?

It should be easy. After removing battery, hard drive, keyboard and palm rest, undo the two big screws next to the two front rubber legs. Then the plastic can be taken out.

For details, download T42 Hardware Maintenance Manual and search for "Keyboard bezel for 14.1-in. LCD models".
