How annoying is the 1802 error beep on the T43?

#1 Post by Omegaboost » Tue Jul 28, 2009 2:08 pm

Is it really loud where everyone in a classroom can hear? Or just a regular beep like when you shut down the laptop?

Thanks

Don't know about the 1802 error but i know that on the T43 with a non-IBM hard drive.it gives you the 2010 error. But before you shut down the laptop if you mute or turn down the volume on the top of the keyboard. The 2010 error will come and go without a sound.
I have tested this on my T43P with a new Samsung 160Gig drive and works.

The 1802 error disappears after you apply the no-1802 hack.
The 2010 beep will be there forever until you get an IBM-approved-for-T43/R52 hard disk.

The hack DOES NOT work on T43/p and R52.

You CAN NOT boot past that point.

Get a proper card.

Using a modded BIOS to save $5 on a wireless card is something I'd NEVER ever consider doing, but that's me...

That is true. Assuming that OP was referring to an "n" card in the first place.

However, replacement planars-after a BIOS flash going sour-most certainly do, and it's $100 or more for an ATi-based T43 board.

I'll stick with a PCMCIA card if I decide that I need "n" speeds on a T43, but, once again, that's me...
