crucial memory

#1 Post by davidlg16 » Mon Feb 07, 2005 4:33 am

I'm trying to buy 512mb of memory for my T42,

looked on crucial website, they have 2 memories 512mb sticks, both saying DDR PC2700 • CL=2.5 • UNBUFFERED • NON-ECC • DDR333 • 2.5V • 64Meg x 64

their part numbers are:
CT392187
http://www.crucial.com/store/MPartspecs ... N=CT392187
CT6464X335
http://www.crucial.com/store/PartSpecs. ... 35&cat=RAM

the first one you get it when u put in ibm-TP-T42 2378
the 2nd one you get when u go to their homepage and looks under pc2700 sodimm 200pin,
both have same specs, same price on crucial site, so what's the difference?

the reason i want to know is that the CT6464X335 is being sold on eBay

They're the same. One just has a specific part number tailored to the IBM machine.

I recently purchased two Crucial 1GB PC2700 200 PIN SODIMMs for my T42P from someone on Ebay for $180 each shipped. The memory works great! Actually I didn't even bid on the memory. I contacted the seller after losing the initial auction and she offered me a better deal. Her Ebay username is marleyshep (marleyshep@aol.com). I have absolutely no affiliation with her, just thought I would share my good experience. Oh yeah, the memory I bought from her also wasn't the same part number Crucial sells specifically for the T42P but it is the same memory.

I would get a IGB stick, but that means it would just take that much longer to hibernate
