Access Connections (AC) V5.30
Access Connections (AC) V5.30
Hi All,
It's been ages since my last post!
Recently, I decided to update my AC to v5.30 from v4.52. after going through the process, I found that the 5.30 can't run on my platform! Wierd!
I have uninstalled the Ethernet, Wi-Fi drives, Keyboard customizer, AC, etc., and re-installed them in the correct order several times, but still I get the same error. What could be wrong?
Cheers,
Ranjit

Re: Access Connections (AC) V5.30
I have 5.30 running on a T40 and a T60 without problems.
The only thing that I remember seeing about AC issues is to make sure that you have all of the "optional" Microsoft updates for Net Framework installed.

Re: Access Connections (AC) V5.30
hi sjthinkpader,
Like I said before, after I installed AC 5.30 I got an error message to say that the AC v5.30 can't run on my platform! Wierd! I run Windows XP Professional Version 2002 SP3.
As per instructions, I have uninstalled the Ethernet, Wi-Fi drives, Keyboard customizer, AC, etc., and re-installed them in the correct order several times, but still I get the same error. What could be wrong?
--> GACrabill: I also have Net Framework installed. I have v3.5 SP1 installed.
Cheers,
Ranjit

Re: Access Connections (AC) V5.30
Hi bill and sjthinkpader,
I have a feeling that the version of the Ethernet adapter has an effect on the performance of the AC v5.12 and v5.30.
Could you guys please let me know what version of Intel Pro/1000 Mobile Connection you are using with either the v5.12 and/or v5.30. The latest version of this adapter seems to be 8.10...
Cheers,
Ranjit

Re: Access Connections (AC) V5.30
Hi Bill,
Thank you for the link.
I think you have misunderstood my previos message. I have a Intel(R) Pro/WirelessLAn 2100 3B Mini PCi Adapter (wireless) and the Intel(R) Pro/1000 Mobile Connection (local area) Network adapters installed in my system. The link you provided supports wireless LAN drivers other than the one I have. Are you suggesting that I change the adapter?
The reason why I mentioned the versions of the Ethernet adapter is because some of the versions do not work well with the AC 5.30. What version of the Ethernet adapter are you using with AC 5.30 for local area connections?
Cheers,
Ranjit

Re: Access Connections (AC) V5.30
I am using ver 8.7.9.0 for the ethernet. I think the latest 2100b is ver 1.2.4.41.

T40 with AC v5.30 (works fine with no issues)ranjit wrote:Could you guys please let me know what version of Intel Pro/1000 Mobile Connection you are using with either the v5.12 and/or v5.30. The latest version of this adapter seems to be 8.10...
Intel PRO/1000 MT driver = 8.10.3.0
Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B = 1.2.4.41
Re: Access Connections (AC) V5.30
Guess what? I have fixed the problem! Access Connection v5.30 is working fine in my system. The culprit has been HotKey driver v2.20.0001. I installed this driver some weeks ago not realizing that this driver can ONLY be used with Vista! As my system runs on Windows XP Professional vrsion 2002 SP3, the driver screwed up everything. I have now installed HotKey Driver version 1.31.0610 which runs beautifully in my system. Could someone tell me if this driver version is the latest for the T42, and one that would not conflict with Ac v5.30?
Like GACrabill, I too have the following software versions installed successfully in my system:
T42 with Access Connections v5.30
Intel PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection driver = v8.10.3.0
Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI Adapter = v1.2.4.41
Thank you all for the great support.
Cheers,
Ranjit

Re: Access Connections (AC) V5.30
I believe that you'll be fine with that version of the Hotkey driver. I used 2.20.0001 on XP as well, and it stopped Presentation Manager working properly too. I guess it's a case of when using XP on a T4x (or X3x for that matter), don't use any Hotkey driver version past 1.3x...
