T42 screen backlight problems

Hi,
My T42 screen backlight keeps going out. You can just about see windows but really difficult. This started when the screen kept flickering but now goes out really quick after booting up.

I was told that it was the screen inverter so i bought a used one on ebay. installed that but that worked for 20 seconds??

Does anybody have any ideas as this is driving me bananas!!!!!!!!!!!

Your LCD backlight has failed. Replace the backlight or the entire LCD.

Thanks for the info. Is it better to replace the entire screen or just the backlight?
I can get a screen from ebay for £25?

It is 'easier' to replace the entire LCD assembly. Backlight replacement requires considerable skill and a very clean environment.

Yes, but a new backlight should be as bright as a new LCD and last several thousand hours, whereas a cheap lid from ebay may be dim and almost dead.

It is not a repair for a member who is asking if it is better to replace the LCD or the CCFL. I loath to make it sound like it is the better choice or easier because the repair itself a royal pain in the [censored] and it rarely comes out well, even if an experienced technician does it.
