intel speedstep on t20 with XP?

#1 Post by ochang12 » Tue Feb 08, 2005 11:56 am

I just upgraded my T20 to XP and am updating all the Thinkpad S/W and drivers now. I noticed on the IBM site there wasnt anything for speedstep support on XP. Is this still needed ? Can I get it somewhere else?

On newer models like the R51 they write "included in the operating system" so you don't need it.
IBM ThinkPad R51 1829-DRG
Intel P-M 1500 MHz
768 MB RAM

Sorry for my English, I speak german.

in power configuration you need to use "portable" to activate speedstep. However, it is done by WinXP that controls the CPU. Of course, that solution is very crude and slow.
Better install SpeedswitchXP, which does much faster load balancing.
