Trackpoint died!

#1 Post by jcentrel » Tue Feb 08, 2005 2:53 pm

The trackpoint just died on my T22. Does anyone know if I can replace it or is there something I can do to get it to start working again?

I guess I can't just replace the trackpoint device itself? Does anyone know how much IBM charges for a new T22 keyboard or should I just buy one used from Ebay?

I just found part number 02K5729 US English Keyboard on the IBM website for $40.00 (not including tax + shipping). The original part number on my keyboard is 02K5517 / FRU: 02K5545/02K5729. If this (02K5729) is the replacement part number for my keyboard, I think I'll get one off of Ebay for $16 shipped.

The trackpoint came back to life and seems 100% fine but the machine is completely freezing now. It doesn't make a difference if I'm plugged into AC or using battery, the machine freezes in whatever screen I'm in. The only way to get it working again is a reboot. Help!
