1) Don't know about that one, someone else will have to help you with it.

2) There are several options:

FRU 39T2507 (T43 DVD-RAM/RW/CD-RW drive) is the best that was originally offered with the T4x series, and it is a curved bezel drive, that fits the bezel of the laptop. It reads and burns all DVD formats, unlike the original drives of the T42, that did not support DVD+.

FRU 39T2829 (Hitachi-LG GSA-U10N) and FRU 39T2851 (Panasonic-M a t s u s h i t a UJ-852) are the fastest compatible DVD-RAM/RW/CD-RW burners. These are from T61, and they are compatible, but the bezel is flat, and does not sit plush with the side of the laptop (only an aesthetics issue, nothing else).

3) Video card cannot be upgraded. Only the entire motherboard can be swapped. The best motherboard that will fit the chassis is the T43p board with ATI FireGL V3200 (rebranded Radeon X600) card.
Current: X220 4291-4BG, T410 2537-R46, T60 1952-F76, T60 2007-QPG, T42 2373-F7G
Collectibles: T430s (IPS FHD + Classic Keyboard), X32 (IPS Screen)
Retired: X61 7673-V2V, A31p w/ Ultrabay Numpad
Past: Z61t 9440-A23, T60 2623-D3U, X32 2884-M5U

Yes, get a T60/T61 DVDRW. Though the bezel doesn't quite line up, they're much better drives than the T4x drives. I know I had a couple and they were junk.

I believe you can use a PCI graphics card in the Dock II, but it won't be a portable solution.
