Best option for a 2nd hard drive - T42

#1 Post by kobepm » Wed Feb 09, 2005 11:57 am

Greetings.

I am about to buy the T42..and am considering options.

I do a fair amount of work/inquiry on my computer that I would like to shielded from prying eyes....nothing illegal or immoral, just private.

Is it better/easier/cheaper to use a second hard drive in the ultrbay or would it make sense to get a second hard drive to plug in externally?

Many thanks for your help.

In terms of security I don't think it really matters. A USB drive is trivial to steal. You can get the security screw which makes it harder for someone to remove the Ultrabay or your primary HD, but of course they could just steal your laptop. If you're concerned about your data in the event of theft, you should be using on-disk encryption in addition to physical security.
