...on my T40. Doubleclicking simply doesn't work, it's like the second click isn't registered. This problem just occurred abruptly. The same thing happens on the touchpad left button, so it's not just the trackpoint/keyboard.
I reinstalled drivers and swapped a brand new new keyboard without results. I also swapped a couple Hd's from other T42's that I have around, and they didn't help either, so it seems not to be a software problem. Interestingly a USB mouse works fine - doubtless a clue of some kind, though I'm not sure what. I haven't tried swapping the touchpad/palmrest assembly. I'n not sure I have one laying around.
Very odd. Anybody have any ideas? Thx!

Re: Left trackpoint button only single-clicks...
My only guess is that the button is sticking temporarily while you are trying to click it the second time. Did you spill anything sticky on it recently? If so you might need to clean it or try replacing it.

The double click speed is adjustable. The set speed is either too fast or too slow for your double click. Look in the Control Panel mosue settings and adjust accordingly.

Re: Left trackpoint button only single-clicks...
Thanks, I appreciate replies, but please reread original post. I REPLACED the keyboard with no effect. So i don't see how it's the keyboard.
I also REPLACED the HD with HD's from 2 other thinkpads and no effect. It's not the settings, if it were the USB mouse would show the same symptoms. Yet a USB mouse works fine.
This is very baffling! I'm going to see if i have a spare palm rest, maybe it's the touchpad.
