How to select a BT headset as audio I/O device?

#1 Post by mmo » Thu Feb 10, 2005 3:52 pm

One problem (BT range problem - see other append) solved - next question:

I just got my Bluetooth stereo headphone (from Bluetake (http://www.bluetake.com/products/BT420EX.htm) and they really sound very nice!

With the BT dongle (BT430) that comes with the headset attached to the iPAQ's audio connector things work as expected.

Now, I was wondering: the T41 has built-in Bluetooth. Shouldn't it thus be possible to run this connection without any additional dongle?

So I ran through the device detection, headset pairing and connection exercise and indeed the BT tray icon shows the headset iPHONO as connected. But neither do I get any audio output over the headphones nor is the microphone integrated into the headphones used for input.

Under ControlPanel => Sound and Audio Devices => Audio I selected Bluetooth Audio for both playback and recording - but still not a single tone!

What am I missing? What does one have to do to use BT for audio I/O?

I got a BT headset to work with my T42p just fine, but only after I missed the last step which was to actually turn ON the headset. In my case, it was a Motorola HS830.

I can assure you, that my device is ON!

Actually - I wasn't precise in saying that I don't get a tone:

I *do* get a tone as soon as I connect, but it's only an intermittent beep (like the ring tone after dialing a phone number). That beep appears as soon as I am connected and stops if I disconnect, and seems some indication that there is a standing connection, but that's definitely NOT the audio that I *want* to hear!
