Hi there,
I have a T22 currently running W98SE. It was a refurbished machine and came with a Ghost recovery CD that has W98SE and a number of IBM programs that I frequently use.
I want to do a clean upgrade to W2k. I have the OS cd but it obviously does not have the IBM programs. Does anyone know where I can obtain a W2k IBM recovery cd?
Alternatively, the program that I use most frequently is ConfigSafe. The only copy is part of the W89 Ghost recovery cd. Is it possible to copy and paste the entire program to the new partition? Alternatively, can I delete the current W98SE folder, leaving the rest of my C:\ drive as is, and just install W2k to its new folder?
Any suggests would be gratefully received.
Many thanks
Rex

I'm not sure about transferring ConfigSafe.Rex wrote:Hi there,

I would do a fresh install. The latest W2K drivers are on IBM.com. Just go to IBM.com, Support & downloads, enter your machine type# and download all of the drivers and ThinkPad utilities.
T22 drivers can also be found here:

Len,
Thanks for your reply. I spoke with IBM today and as my T22 is listed as being supplied with W98SE, they will not supply me with a W2k restore cd. That is no big deal.
When I first got the machine, ConfigSafe did not work because I found that it was in C:\Program Files and not in C:\. So may be I can copy the whole program and the relevant registry entries to a different partition, and when I have installed W2k, move ConfigSafe back and add the registry entries to the new reg.
Does that sound like a great/stupid idea?

Don't try to do some convoluted thing with transfering files out of C:\Programs, and hoping you can patch in the registry keys. It won't work as parts of this program are bound to be located in Windows/system or Windows/System32. If you have broadband and can download 2.3 or so megabytes by email, PM me.
