Hi there, new member here.
I've recently upgraded my home router to a Cisco 877W and I'm using WPA2 for encryption. My wife's T41 has the old Cisco 802.11b card in it that doesn't support WPA2 at all. I've been looking around and found this card: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT
Would this card work fine in the T41? I've heard you may need to hack the bios. Is that pretty straightforward?
Thanks for the info

Re: WPA2 card for T41
Hi,
Any mini pc-card would work, but you have to change one bit in CMOS memory of the T41. This is really safe compared to the BIOS hack where you have to modify the data in the BIOS chip yourself.
I used it to get my intel 2915abg adapter to work (first the t41 refused to boot with this mpci card in it).
Get Hiren's bootcd from internet and boot from it, choos dos / msdos so you actually get a dos prompt.
Start debug.exe
then assemble this small program:
-a100
-movdx,70
-moval,6a
-outdx,al
-incdx
-inal,dx
-oral,80
-outdx,al
-int3
then:
-g=100
This should do the trick, and now the t41 bios skips the check for valid / supported mini pci card id's.
So now it should boot your OS and from there you can install the right drivers.

Hope this helps you.
Cheers,
Erik

Re: WPA2 card for T41
Thanks for the info Erik.
The card should hopefully arrive here shortly. There have been postal strikes all over England
As soon as I get it I'll let you know how I get on
