So I transfer my files over my 802.11g network to my ThinkPad. Then I try to burn the files on the CD-RW drive on the ThinkPad.
The ThinkPad's CD-RW drive makes clacking noises and the motor grinds like crazy. IBM Record Now (version 7) gives me error messages. This happens 3 times. 3 Coasters added to my collection.
So I call IBM up, and the technician has me reinstall DLA to see if it's just a problem with Record Now. No luck. The drive makes the same awful noises and I get an error message. A fourth CD-R is now toast. The tech says that his boss will call me back later, but he doesn't know when.
This is #$(*!$#!
I have 2 drives with CD-RW capability and both are messed up! And I have no idea when IBM will get back to me on my ThinkPad's drive.
I got most of my important documents and photographs onto USB flash drives, but some stuff (like my Half Life 2 backups) are too big and need to be put onto CD-ROMs. Now I am unhappy because I have no idea when my T40's optical bay will be back in business, and I have backups to make. The most the tech offered was to have his boss call back - he didn't offer to send out a replacement drive.
I'm calling IBM back in the morning... to freakin tired right now to argue with anyone and I want a [censored] replacement drive.
