Problem with fingerprint reader

#1 Post by dkrizic » Sun Feb 13, 2005 6:43 am

Hello!

I have a T42p (2373-P1G) with Fingerprint reader. When I got the notebok it installed it with a dummy user and registered two fingers for fun (and testing the fingerprint reader).

Later I registered the real user and tried to register the same fingers again, but it says that the finger is already registered.

Where and how can I clean the registered fingerprints? I heard that the IBM Security Chip can be cleared/cleaned, but I don't find the menu entry in the BIOS. The BIOS is current (I think 3.13).

...darko

you have to shutdown your thinkpad first before entering the bios to see the "clear security chip" option. A restart out of windows doesn't work.

Thank you! That was the trick: You really have to change the BIOS, save the settings and the actually do a cold restart!

fingerprint problem

I can't find a way in bios (or anywhere) to clear out the fingerprints belonging to a now non-existent user. In the bios I can clear encryption keys, but not fingerprints. How did you find it?

thanks
