Odd trouble with IBM RecordNow on T42P: file in use...

#1 Post by Marc_G » Sun Feb 13, 2005 10:38 am

Hi folks-

Maybe this should be in another forum... if so please advise.

I made a backup image of my new T42P System drive using Drive Image in DOS mode. The backup was made onto a separate partition I created on the hard drive, resulting in two ~2GB files. So far, so good.

So I booted back into WindowsXP, put a new DVD-R disk into the drive, and started IBM RecordNow. Added the two files to a data disk project, along with folders containing the Drive Image and Partition Magic utilities.

When I try to write the disk, it warns me that my two big files "are in use by another program" and so aren't going to be included. I abort the process.

Any ideas? Those files aren't being used anywhere else, and I've turned off system restore for that drive. They're just sitting fat and happy on a FAT32 partition that I use as an archive.

I've burned such images before. Don't know why it's a problem this time. Any thoughts?

Meanwhile, I'm going to install NERO...

I spoke too soon. Nero had trouble with those files too. Defective archive. Oddly, they were locked for opening/editing in Windows XP as well. I was able to delete them without a problem. Strange. Now I have to figure out why my backup files got garbaged.
