That one has an ATi chip...you need Intel graphics if you want to be entirely on the safe side...

That's a R52 board, so you'll need new CPU, RAM and fan to begin with. Apart from that it should be OK...also has FireWire port that you have no opening for on T41...that's not a biggie though...

what? noo but it says r51r52? *sigh* this is a pain
i think the thing that killed it was going from running hot to freezing cold in my backpake every day...:/ so seeing as its mostly going to be sitting at home (mabt going out once in a while) wold it be safe to get another t41 mobo? or is that just a lost cause

Well, you must weigh the options yourself, but personally I'd be selling that T41 and moving on to a newer machine.

A nice 14" T43 with Intel graphics can be found on this forum for around $250...and will tolerate almost any abuse that you impose on it...

very true but as of late ive been going trhough laptops like crazy so i kinda wan to:
a: fix the thinkpad because it is one sweet little machine
b: not have to get rid of yet another computer
c: show my parents that i can resurect at least one of my old computers
and i want to do all 3 :/

**disclamer: i know on some forums when you say somthing about your parents or your age if you are under 18/20 people will assume the worst and call every one spoild; this is not the case iv paid for every thing that i own, the only thing my parents bought me wold be : x-mas gifts, and the acer(sig) and my hp g60**

found a t43 base unfortunaty it has ati gfx but...
any way my logic:
r51 bord with intel gfx is hard to find...hey look a t43 base +cpu and maby ram...neat!! oh wait...ati hmmmm
so there that is it ...now i will either buy that ($80) or (more likly) the r51 bord i found for $77 :
