Wireless drops when using access point

#1 Post by jianlian » Mon Feb 14, 2005 11:09 am

Myself and a few friends using IBM ThinkPads are having trouble maintaining a connection to a wireless access point at school. Basically the connection will drop off after about a minute or two. We all have internal wireless cards (part of Centrino), and they have b cards while mine is b/g. Other people are able to connect with their internal cards so i dunno why ours won't. Further, when my friend plugged in a Cisco PC card into his laptop, his connect was fine.

Any ideas how to fix this problem?? (without buying a seperate wireless card!) I've also heard that we can try using Dell drivers, is this true?

I've had some issues with Access connections at my university's network. It wouldn't disconnect, but it would drop down to 1 mbps, and nothing would load. I started using Windows to connect my Wifi, and the problem seemed to have gone away. Give that a shot maybe, and make sure all your drivers are updated.

I have found similar problems, but only with one AP in the library. All of the others seem to work fine.

Related: We just got Perfigo Wireless Security dumped on us and that is a whole other set of irritations. Either of you have Perfigo or know a way around it?
