#1 Post by Kamelot314 » Sat Oct 24, 2009 4:11 pm

Hi Everybody!

This is my first post on this forum! I hope to get the help i need, and of corse! giving to most help i can!

I just want to let you know, i'am from Quebec (Canada), and as you can see, my english need some pratice! Well i try to do my best! So if sometime, you don't understand what i wrote or what i mean, please feel free to tell me!

So now, back to my problem! I just order an IBM Thinkpad T43 1875-DMU from IBM Certified Used Equipement!

The notebook come with 1024mb so i think is 2x512mb row! So i ordered 2x1gb from www.memoryx.com for the computer! I just wondering to know if thoses memory will work perfectly in my notebook!

An then, the notebook come with a PM740 (1.7ghz), i saw on Ebay some CPU like (750,760,780). As i can see, the bigger CPU i can put is the 780 (2.2ghz) My problem is i'am a litle affraid if i put this CPU (780) and 2gb of ram, the computer will overheat or is not gonna be stable!

So i want your opinion about wich CPU is better for my Notebook!

Tanks you for the reply!

Dom!

As long as you used the memory selector at memoryx they guarantee compatibility...so no worries there.

The largest CPU for a T43 is a Pentium M 780 (2.26Ghz). I would recommend sticking with a 2.0Ghz CPU Pentium M 760 for heat reasons.

Not sure of your reasons for running Vista Ultimate on this machine, but I can tell you from first hand experience that Windows 7 Ultimate is the OS that works well on it. It's almost like it was designed for a T43...fast.

It probably would, but why go for that cripple?
You may as well go straight for Windows 7, the T43 seems to be made for it!

Do you hate your T43 so much??

I see in your signature that you run Ubuntu as well, you'll have Karmic being released this Thursday! Why would you harm your TP with Vista!! :??:
