Mouse/Touchpad problem

#1 Post by jsmit86 » Wed Oct 28, 2009 9:24 pm

I have a T42 that recently developed an intermittent problem.
Often, when I left click, I get no response. At other times, just hovering over a window will cause it to minimize/maximize/minimize etc.....

I replaced the keyboard, but this had not solved the issue. I am running a kaspersky rescue disk to rule out a virus...

In the meantime, has anyone had a similar experience, and if so, how was it solved?

Well- no virus. I guess that's good news. I tried to uninstall the Ultranav, but upon reboot, it still is active. That seems odd...

Maybe your touchpad is faulty. Disable it in the BIOS, see if that helps.

I think I've got it! I kept trying to disable the touchpad in device manager. It just kept coming back... but then I found the Thinkpad Configuration app in Control Panel. That successfully dialed the touchpad, which seemes to have solved the problem. Now I just need to decide if I want to go through with the hassle of changing out the palm rest.
