what is this monitor update?

As the text suggests, it does two things:

1. Names your monitor so that it appears as "Thinkpad Monitor" on your display properties and also uses the correct allowed resolutions.

2. Calibrates the colour profile so that it matches the Thinkpad specs, and not the specs Windows thinks it has.

It is not an essential thing to install, but nice nevertheless
