About a month ago i started the T42, only for the screen to apparently die on me within a couple of minutes
I checked the screen with a flashlight and it seems it was projecting the display onto the monitor but the backlight was not working so i could not see it without a flashlight
Turned it off, and back on, problem fixed ... till now
This morning i went to boot it up, i was greeted by the option to press F1 or F12 screen, and then it dissapeared
I have rebooted a further ten times now, and the same thing occurs
Little bit of research tells me this might be an inverter problem but my questions to you are these
IF the inverter was broken, surely it wouldn't work at all? Not be intermittent?
Is it more likely my inverter has come loose?
Why would it work immediately upon booting and then die within 20 seconds each time?
Could there be something in the boot sequence that is making it behave this way?
Any and all help appreciated guys n gals i just got myself back to 2 x working thinkpads in the house (hallelujah!) and now i'm back down to 1, and it's not the newer one lol
So glad i revived my T21!
also, on the monitor of the T42 on the bottom left part of the screen when it was working there appeared to be a bit of red bleed on the screen, does that make sense? just a little reddish hue to the edge, is that related to the issue at all or a seperate one? will repairing the inverter cure this or not?
Thanks for taking the time to pop in, i will be watching this thread like a hawk!
Hilp mi plis!
*update*
when i press the lid close button the monitor comes back to life for about 10 seconds and then dies again, hope that helps diagnose!
