T40 new battery wont charge.

Got a replacement real IBM battery for my T40, but when I put it in, I get a flashing yellow battery icon on the LCD status panel. The battery status wizard shows error and not charging. Could a new unused battery be bad? Anyway to make it working?

Where did you get it? Does your T40 charge your old battery (however badly it may be)?
