T42 Optical Drive compatibility

#1 Post by bli1348 » Wed Jun 09, 2004 1:13 am

Hi
I owned a thinkpad 600, yes, a long while ago, and now I'm planning to go back to thinkpad, a T42. When I had the 600 (equivalent of T series back then), the cd-drive sometimes had trouble reading discs. I know that the laptop drives are not as compatible as the desktop ones, and you don't have a choice, but that cd-drive sometimes couldn't even read original cds.

I wonder if people who owned T42 with DVD-R/RW drive can share the experience of reading/burning CD-R/RW DVD-R/RW discs? I hate when my current laptop simply died when reading some cheap CD-Rs, and that's why i'm switching laptops...

You should have no problem at all reading and CDs, CDRs, CDRWs, DVDs, etc, that the drive is spec'd to read. No need for a spare drive - if you have problems, you just get it replaced under warranty.
