Port Replicator Detection?
Port Replicator Detection?
I've got 1600x1200 dvi output on my T42 through replicator II thanks to you guys. And I have everything perfect with my replicator except for one thing. When I actually put the thinkpad in the replicator, I expect it to detect that and switch display settings automatically. Instead, I have to manually do that. I see an option in Presentation Director which states; "When thinkpad is docked immediately apply this display scheme" but that doesn't work for me. Perhaps they mean docked with a dock instead of a port replicator?
Anyway.. I was just curious if anyone else had gotten this to work.
Thanks!

Presentation Director does not detect dock
I had this same problem on my old T23, but assumed it was because presentation director was not native, but a program I installed.
However, I just got my new T42, and it has the same problem, it never sees the dock and never "automatically applys" my chosen scheme. Very frustrating to have to manually change my resolution back to 85 Hz from 60 Hz five times a day.
Does anyone have the solution?!?
Jeff

I don't think being put on the port replicator is being considered "docked" in the traditional sense. All the port replicator does is provide a convenient cabling method where you can keep all of your cables hooked to the PR and then just drop you ThinkPad on to it....It doesn't offer any real "extra" features of a traditional dock, like extra hard drives or optical drives or PCMCIA slots.
So, I'm guessing that jit doesn't see the PR in the same way it would see an actual dock, so it isn't considering itself docked.
My T30 dropped on the PR doesn't automatically switch monitors, but if you put my sister's X40 on the UltraBase it does...

I don't have this problem. i have a t42 2378 rau with a port rep. 2 and when I drop it in the replicator, my monitor moves up to 1280*1024 and 60hz. However, when I just undock my computer tho...i have to change the res back to 1024. And that is annoying...hehe.
Surfing on a T42 (2378RAU) - Dothan 1.6Ghz. 1024mb of Ram. 32mb ATI 7500. Intel 2200BG wifi card 100GB Seagate HDD
Also surfing on an X41 Tablet! - 1.5GHZ, 1GB of RAM, 60GB HDD, Bluetooth CDC, etc etc
