Wireless N on a T4x?

#1 Post by saintnick » Fri Nov 27, 2009 12:28 pm

Hi there, I searched the forums and could not find any reference to Wireless N on a T4x. Can this be done? I would prefer to use the internal card, if at all possible.
And if so, does anyone know of any vendors? I have Wireless N on my mac, and want to be able to share all the pictures.
Thanks!
Nick

On eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/AR5008-Atheros-AR54 ... 0393634203
You won't get the full speed probably, because you have only 2 antennas for it in a T4x.

Also try Oxfordtec - You will also probably have to get around the BIOS restrictions for using a Non-IBM/Lenovo branded WLAN card.

Saintnick
If I did this correctly it is a previous thread about putting an N adaptor in a T4X. I did a non whitelist one in my T41. It uses 2 ant. was pretty cheap and works ok for me.

Hi, I have at home some spare antennas from Dell laptop. Do you know if is possible to built that antenna spare cable (cable with small element at the end) to T43 body and connect it to third antenna connector? Do you know if is neccessary to place antenna to LCD cover? Thanks.

You could probably take the BlueTooth antenna out of the lid, and put the third antenna there.
Or you could use the BT antenna.
But it seems that 2 antennas already provide enough 'oomph'.

I agree with RBS. You have to stop sometimes and ask yourself, what will you gain? My 2 ant N connects to my N router at 300... sometimes. But bottom line it works fine. Do you really care if it says 300 or 3? You just want it to work. You just want it fast. I say put one in that takes 2 ant and call it good. just my 2 cents. Either way good luck! :)
