T43 (Type 1871) HDD service life

#1 Post by cigtoxdoc » Sun Nov 29, 2009 6:10 pm

We have a refurbished T43 that we purchased last year. HDD service life has been about three months. Fortunately, we purchased the service contract (Lenovo) as current HDD just gave a boot failure. Lenovo has another HDD on the way to us, but there is the costs of recovering data and reloading software and data on new drive.

Any suggestions?

John

Sorry to hear of your hard drive failure.

Now would be the time to implement your backup strategy.

You could install the hard drive in a USB enclosure and attempt to recover your data.

Unfortunately hardware failures happen and as far as I know Lenovo or any other manufacturer for that matter does not cover your recovery costs.

We know from last time that we can get the files since last backup using rescue and recovery cd; however, it won't boot from rescue and recovery cd.

Hope that our CD drive is not bad, too.
