T43 prcoessor upgrade: Is it worth it?

#1 Post by kmshuler » Mon Nov 30, 2009 12:59 am

Wondering if anyone has upgraded a T43's processor yet and saw a noticeable difference. I'm considering upgrading the Pentium M 1.73 to a 2.13 Ghz Pentium M 770. Ebay has them for under $50.

My question is: Will the performance difference be noticeable using real world applications?

I want to increase the performance of my T43. I love it and don't want to switch to another notebook, but it is a little slow compared to my other machines. Maybe spending some $$$ on a Transcend 64GB IDE SSD would give me bigger bang for the buck. Any experiences with these upgrades?

Best regards,
Kurt

Unless you're doing CPU intensive stuff frequently, the hard drive is usually a better upgrade. I don't know about the Transcend, but some of the lower end SSDs have stuttering issues. This can be more annoying than the benefits you get. You may wish to check into it before spending your money. There's always a 7200RPM drive, but since they're not making PATA 7200RPM drive any more, they're a bit expensive right now.
