Ghost white dot on lcd with very high mobility-T41

#1 Post by T400plus » Mon Nov 30, 2009 6:03 am

Only for T41 ----
 I got another T41 and noticed the same wonder so this posting,to check if I am the one and only one chosen to notice the dot.
Sometime in the first months of 2003 ,I got a T41 2373 1HU 14" as a replacement to a compaq which some unfortunate fellow stole.
The lcd shows a white dot at random spots unpredictably and it can be erased by a specific click of the button on the touchpad. The vendors (IBM then) changed the LCD 3 times for that
and changed even the motherboard AT LEAST ONCE ...without solving the problem.
I had given up and even mentioned to somebody senior with that IBM, that it was a product design fault..Obviously they would not agree and did all possible other things to soothe this owner.
That T41 got fried because of some dust below the motherboard....

I got another T41 from the expensive junk market and ...noticed the same ghost wandering on the LCD.
Since by now I know how to scare it off , I am not perturbed.
I would like to know if others (T41 users) have noticed this wandering ghost on their lcds.

See 'Windows Support' here.
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/UltraNav

It's an Ultranav bug...no fix.

Oh!, How come IBM's India support not know about it.They could saved IBM a lot of money
unless what they used to repair was of no Book value on their employers balance sheet.
Thank you for the pointer.I will read it in more intensive detail later in the day.
My T400 (p8400,2GB,Terrible Intel memory,++)from the chinese does not have this problem.
:D
