PCMCIA Freezing problem

I bought a PCMCIA Firewire/USb2.0 card a while back. It wokred fine. Every once and a while when i put it in the slot my pc would freeze, but then instantly reume when i pull the card out.

However now it happens all the time.

What could be causing this?
