T41P motherboard won't boot

#1 Post by scr71822 » Tue Dec 01, 2009 1:14 pm

I have a T41 motherboard that powers on with a green power and fan and no video. I had it reballed and it did not fix the problem. It charges a battery fine, fan works, just no video. I pulled the memory to see if it would do the 1-3-3-1 beep and it did not. If a motherboard has a bad graphics chip would it beep with no memory? If you have a GPU problem mobo can you test it for me?

Does anyone perhaps have a good FireGL2 chip for sale i can have installed?

First of all, you can't install a GPU by itself, it's an integral part of the board.

Secondly, board that doesn't beep with RAM removed is likely as dead as dodo. I've had numerous boards with GPU issues and they beeped with no RAM inserted.

If you decide to swap the board instead of junking the machine, feel free to drop me a PM.

Good luck.

I found a company on ebay that sells just the GPU reballed and ready to install for 60 bucks. What I'm trying to figure out is is it my GPU chip or something else on the motherboard.

There's a cheaper (and probably better) one: GPU Medics charges only $45.-
Several forum members have positive results from this company.

Already tried the reball, didn't fix the issue. It is something else hanging the system up. I'm wondering if it is the GPU chip itself or another chip on the board like the bios chip.

It could very well be the Southbridge chip, which can also be re-balled.

I looked at that and decided it could be it because it was warped a little. I had it professinally reflowed but that did not fix the issue. Might have to replace it. I'll see if I can find a donor SB chip.
