Thinkpad T series buying advice

#1 Post by fms0989 » Fri Feb 18, 2005 1:24 am

Friends, I am a college student and I am looking forward to buying a thinkpad. I want to buy from T42 series. I need 14" SXGA with 64 MB of video RAM. I can certainly add more RAM and bigger and faster harddrive myself later, but I need efficient and robust system.

I heard that soon T43 will be up for sale. Should I wait for that or it's not worth waiting for 3/4 weeks. My budget is limited to $2000.00.

All feedbacks are appreciated. Please advice all different configurations so that I can decide effectively.

Thanks.

Check with your school for IBM discounts. Then talk with the IBM rep that covers your school (should be listed on the web site) to find out about a system that suits your needs....
For instance, at my school, the 23739XU was heavily discounted and that is a computer that would fit your needs...

Upgrading a 2378FVU would also suit your needs.

It should answer most of your questions including the evidence that buying a T42 is better than waiting for the T43. I just purchased mine last week.
