T43 battery latch missing

#1 Post by Specter » Fri Dec 25, 2009 6:53 am

I just bought a T43 for my daughter as a replacement for her T41. It turns out that one of the battery latches on the T43 is missing. Since the T41 is to be replaced, is it possible to (easily) move the corresponding latch from the T41 to the T43? Can I just break loose the latch and press it in place on the T43?

Is there anything special to consider when doing this (so as not to break plastic parts for example)?

Thanks for any ideas!

The parts are identical between T4x models.
The slider looks like a letter T but with 2 'legs' pointing down. These 'legs' have a little extension at their bottom, which catch in the slit when pressed in.
Just don't bend them in any further than necessary, when you try to pry them out.
Most likely you will have to do this from the INSIDE of the case :(

Hi RealBlackStuff and thanks for this information! I was expecting to get this answer. Perhaps it is best to leave it the way it is then, the battery seems to be seated securely enough, even without the second latch.

The T41 is not dead by any means, but it has a problem with charging its battery. I found a post here where you were to use a paper clip to pull one of the contacts of the A/C input. This worked, but not perfectly, perhaps because I didn't pull hard enough. Anyway, the T41 is largely ok, so I would rather not break the latch if unnecessary.

Again, thanks for pointing this out! Perhaps I will be desperate enough one day to try and pry it out. :)
