IBM ThinkPad T40 series bad graphics cards

I had a problem with my ThinkPad T40. When ever I would move my T40, it would freeze the windows screen and have to turn it off manualy and turn back on and keep it flat on the table. I replaced the motherboard with a brand new ThinkPad T41 board and a half year later it started to do it again. I read that you can send it in to get repaired. What is the price for it and what is the cheapest. I also found that the ThinkPads R50,R51,R52 have a cooling fan to the Processor and to the ATi Graphics card aswell. I wounder why the T4x series didn't have it theres. Would it work in my T40?

That heatsink looks very different from the T4x heatsinks that I have worked on. I'm guessing its not going to fit.

If you have a T4Xp, or a T42/T43 with Radeon 9600/X300, it will have the long fan, which also covers the ATI chip. It will also be compatible with other T4X, which have the Radeon 7500. How much it really helps with preventing the problem, I cannot say.
