T43 question?

I am planning to build a t43 from used parts I got from ebay, but i dont have an original t43 hard drive,but I have a brand new hard drive and a set of t43 recovery dics, i myself never built a laptop before, but luckily i successfully resembled the whole t43 together. The last step is with the recovery dics. Before i start i just want to ask anyone in the forum who have experiences to do this step to help me do that correctly . By the way please show me step by step , thank u

Not really much to it. Before you start, go into the BIOS and set your CD/DVD drive to be first in the boot order. Then, put the start-up disk in the drive and reboot. Then just sit there and follow the prompts on the screen when it asks for the succeeding disks.

You will get an error on boot up about the hard drive. You should be able to esc out of it. In the lastest bios there is a setting that will allow it to ignore the error and contine with out the esc. It will just flash by. It the top of the T4X page there is a sticky on it. I have several T43's and I don't think it is a problem at all. Other than that as long as the wireles card is on the bios list you shouldn't have any problems.

by the way,how about the operating system? does recovery dics contain any operating system? i have a window 7 DVD, which dics i should put in first, recovery dics or window7 dvd?

Recovery disks ARE the operating system. If your ultimate intention is to install W7, then I think you should forgo the recovery disks (since it will be Windows XP) and just use the Windows 7 disk.
