How to get to hard drive in a T22

#1 Post by billybat » Mon Feb 21, 2005 4:14 pm

I just bought a T22 for $300 and it runs fine except for the battery. XP runs well and so does office 2003. One question, though. How does one get to the hard drive on this unit (just in case)?

Flip the machine over, use a penny to loosten the screw that is on the left side of the unit, pull the plastic tab out with the drive....... reverse

After you have completed the above steps note that the LCD lid will have to be open in order for the HD to slide out...

$300 is a steal :!:

Check out your manual for other info:

Stuck harddrive cover on T22?

#5 Post by jeffcrilly » Mon Oct 10, 2005 2:55 am

So, I tried removing the drive from T22 tonight. I removed the screw,
and opened the laptop so the drive/audio bezel could clear the case.

I pulled on that thing, but no luck getting it out. Its snug in there.

Any idea?

(Btw, the other day, the drive was making a slapping noise, and I'm thinking it needs to be replaced. Its a 32gb 5400 afaict. I'll probably put in a 60GB/5400 (less $$ than the 7200), but I want something quiet.)

Make sure the screen is open. It may take more force than you expect to remove the drive. It's possible that whoever installed the drive did something strange like used nonstandard screws to attach it to the caddy. If using more force doesn't work, you might have to remove the palmrest.
