What keyboard P/N do I need?

#1 Post by burns334 » Tue Jan 19, 2010 12:44 am

I've acquired a T43 2668 83U without a keyboard and it is different than most I have seen as it only has 3 standoffs. Does anyone know the FRU number for this keyboard? The manual and ebay haven't been any help.

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... yle=lenovo, this link should help you find the part number you need.

I found this specific site for your machine type: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 58491.html

The 15" model keyboards have only 3 posts (14" have 4).
NMB ........ ALPS ...... Chicony
39T0643 - 39T0704 - 39T0765 FRU
93P4780 - 93P4840 - 13N9893 P/N

NMB is the one to go for.

Thanks guys, I knew that wouldn't take to long, post, .........sleep, wakeup, answer in hand. I really looked myself but for some reason (duh) I didn't realize it was a 15" unit.

I´m looking for a swedish NMB kbd for my T400 and the ibm/lenovo website (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 70428.html) gives me no hint, just 3 columns with fru numbers. I don´t want to presume that they´ve kept the same layout as on this site (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 58491.html), which clearly states manufacturer and fru.

42T3143 (US English) seems to be the stronger one (3rd column on the list)
42T3164 would be the matching Swedish KB
Someone may chime in with a Mfg of that.

How can you tell which keyboard the original is? I need to replace one for a T42. I see no indication on the labels of which manufacturer the original is.
The HMM lists the part for a T42 (15") as 93P4840. My original keyboard is:

Part No: 39T0674
FRU No: 39T0704
ID No: 57A0XT
Model: JN-US
Bar Code: *11S39T0674Z1ZA3F57A0XT*

You can see the labels at

It doesn't matter at this point, since pretty much all new 15" keyboards for T4x that I've seen over the past 5 years or so were ALPS.

There's a section in the HMM which specifically deals with keyboard FRUs, including different manufacturers and layouts/languages.

Hello,

I'm coming back to this post, because I too need a U.S. keyboard for 15" T42, Type 2378-XXR. The existing one is FRU 93P4840, Part No. 93P4810. I'm looking, too, at the hardware manual and see those NNB, ALPS, and Chicony numbers that RealBlackStuff posted above.

Problem is that I'm not finding these on ebay. Instead, I see people advertising things such as 39T0734, 39T0550 and 39T0519, saying they're for T42. Should I avoid all those, and just strictly look for:
93P4780 - 93P4840 - 13N9893 P/N
???

Thanks.

Verify with the seller that they are the 3-post version for the 15" model and you should be fine. There are way more many FRUs that any of us ever bothered to record.

Good luck.

Thanks. Asked three sellers. Heard from one: doesn't know.

The one that seems pretty common is the 39T0765. One ebay seller claims that works with the T42. Photo shows three posts.

And four years ago, this forum poster in Denmark was selling one with P/N 39T0734, FRU 39T0765.

Sound like an easy solution to me.
