T42 hard drive
More I read more I am confused. I want to replace the hard drive in my t42 (2373-a77) I would like to know what is recommended in size and if it is a ata, sata, pata, IDE, EIDE... for best performance without modification. Also id 7200rpm much beter or faster then 5400rpm.
Thank you in advance

Re: T42 hard drive
For a T42, you want PATA/IDE, not SATA.

Re: T42 hard drive
Modern 5400rpm HDs are as good if not faster than the 'old' 7200rpm.
Largest IDE/PATA drive for a T4x on the market is 320GB

Re: T42 hard drive
Lem, the way I remember it is as follows
ATA stands for Advanced Technology Attachment and it was a parallel device so it could have been called a Parallel ATA = PATA
When the Serial ATA was invented they just added the S in front
ATA's or PATA's are the older drives, roughly stopping at the T43's
SATA's are in the T60's and up.
They have different interfaces and can't even be plugged in by mistake, they won't mate.
