Rescue and Recovery appears in two places on this machine:
1. Control Panel Add/Remove Programs displays IBM Rescue and Recovery with Rapid Restore, and Support shows it to be version 1.00.0033. This application totals 41.16 MB
2. C:\Program Files\IBM\IBM Rapid Restore Ultra includes 35 files totaling 5.5MB including rrpcgui.exe which says it is version 4,0,0,4026 of Rapid Restore Ultra.
I can't sucessfully launch either. If I come thru Start-All Programs-Access IBM-Rapid Restore Ultra or if I double click rrpcgui.exe I get the same result; Windows Installer initiates configuration of Rapid Restore Ultra which fails because IBM Rescue and Recovery with Rapid Restore.msi can't be found on this machine.
Lenovo's new Thinkvantage Toolbox recommends installing Rescue and Recovey for system and file backup. Lenovo website says use RnR4.21 for Windows XP, but the RnR4.21 page says applies to T43 and aboe, but no mention of T42.
What should I do?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Rescue and Recovery for T42, Win XP Pro SP3
My opinion?
Remove R&R and use better and less annoying backup applications such as Acronis True Image, or even Symantec Ghost.
If you do want to stay with R&R, you can try downloading it afresh from Lenovo's site, maybe even an older version which is said to support T42:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 65800.html
(R&R 4 might also work on T42, but I am not certain because I never used it).

Re: Rescue and Recovery for T42, Win XP Pro SP3
Lenovo "supports" RnR 3.1 for T42. Installed the 3.1 and then overinstalled as an update the newer RnR 4.21. Seems to work just fine. The newer version includes access through windows, the 3.1 seems only to work in the pre-windows environment.
thanks for your input.
