Will a IBM 2100b Wireless MiniPci work in a non-IBM?

#1 Post by aphex » Wed Jun 09, 2004 6:48 pm

My 2379DJU shipped w/ an Intel 2100b wireless card and i replaced it with a 2200bg.

Since i know IBM's only work with IBM cards, does it go the other way?

I want to sell my 2100b but will it work in any non-IBM system as well?

I'm sure they will work with any system that uses mini-PCI cards and has compatible antenna connections.

The reason many other cards won't work on Thinkpads is explained here, and discussed here.

How do you like your 2379DJU? I just recently got one, and am considering replacing the 2100b card with an IBM 11a/b/g card. I read where the IBM cards perform better than the Intel cards. I'm trying to find out if the IBM cards (and driver that comes with the card) support AES encryption.

It does. See here IBM's Driver Fix list

Look for changes made at version 1QWC70WW.
