14.1" vs. 15", which do you prefer?

I've had an X21 and already have a 12" Apple PowerBook, which is my compact, travel machine. I use my ThinkPad mostly for military travel (easier to use PC for the military forms program, though I've gotten by with Virtual PC on the Mac) where I still value comact size, but also use the machine as an entertainment center for long periods. The 12" is OK, but I prefer an integrated machine with the drives built-in (the Apple is that way too).

The current 14" T4x is a great size and weight, and is hands-down better for me than the big 15", but I would like something just a bit smaler still, like the old 570 only with a built-in optical drive and modern power to run those games I like to play.

As the lineup is now, I'll probably buy a T42 from Bill in a few months, right before I'm activated for refresher training and then a one-year stint in Afghanistan. Probably will get the cheapest T42 or even T41 with a 9600 graphics card the 14.1" SXGA, or is XGA still better for games?
