Networking the T43

Can I add an ethernet card to the T43 in order to connect the laptop to the desktop PC? Is there a slot for a card?

Yes, T43's have a PCMCIA slot and an express card slot. Ethernet is available in either architecture.

Does the card slip into the port on the left side front? Then can I run the LAN cable to the card in my desktop? I have to transfer files.

Yes. You will need an Ethernet crossover cable.

Will the cable plug into the port on the left side and work immediately? There is an enabled LAN connection in network connections, so I shouldn't need card.

Well, I was assuming that you'd need the existing ethernet port in the T43 for Internet connection. If not, then yes you can use the built-in ethernet port for a LAN connection. If that was your plan, then why were you asking about adding an Ethernet card?
