Can a T43 15" model motherboard fixed in the 14"?

#1 Post by ebear » Tue Feb 09, 2010 12:54 pm

Hi, I have a T43 2668-AJU 14" model. Got fan error when boot. Find a T43 MOTHERBOARD VIDEO ATI 64MB W/CPU&FAN from ebay. But this mother board appears to be a 15" T43. (Model #: 2668M6U. S/N: L3-BE640).

Does any1 know if this 15" motherboard can fix in my 14" 2668AJU? TIA!

I know I could just replace the fan. But the price of this motherboard with cpu/fan is not much more than the fan only. So if it fits in. I may go with this.

Yes it will work. The only difference is that the 15" board has an interposer board plugged into it, which is not used in the 14" chassis.

In most cases the fan error is caused by a broken fan or a blown fuse F4. Have a look at this picture if you want to check the fuse.

Thank you very much, Harryc. Great and super fast post!

What's the interposer board? Do I need to take out that interposer board before put the mother board in my 14" t43?

Chances are the new systemboard will not come with an interposer board. It is considered part of the chassis.

What about a 15" R52 motherboard into a 14" T42 chassis?

Thanks

It will work, but you may lose Firewire if the R52 board has it. The T42 chassis has no cutout for Firewire. You'll also need a new CPU and RAM because they are not compatible. Also be mindful of LCD compatibility...may not be.
