#1 Post by baraider » Thu Feb 24, 2005 1:32 pm

very excited.
my first thinkpaq. The total is almost the same compared to the fvu model after warranty upgrade and tax
when i called him first time, he said there are 5 left in stock, 20 minutes later, i called back to order, it's 2 left.....wow.

very excited..

WOW! That's a fantastic deal! I paid $1950 for mine about a month or less ago... Wish I'd have bought direct from IBM so I could get the discount but oh well. :P

just check online and the order has shipped....even ups site does not show anything.

I want to ask anyone is it weird that i have not received any email from ibm regarding my order. I thought i should have received one or two emails after i placed my order.

They are notoriously bad about sending emails confirming orders in a timely fashion and their shipping info tends to be dubious at best. But, they should get you an email within 24 hours. I think I got my email about a day later.

I just sent an email requesting an educational quote on this model. 20% would be nice but I'm not holding my breath, oh well that's what is nice about this industry prices inevitably come down. :)

Just received my t42 this morning at 10am sharp.

The machine is AMAZING.

I love it, love it, love it. :D
The most money spent on a computer and i have to say it's very well spent.

It's light, i can't believe it's that light for a powerful laptop. After using a widescreen 15"4 presario x1000, it's amazing to have a different light, small 14" . i don't think i loose anything by switching.

First thing, tested the dead pixel....Found none...maybe i need to use different tests to look at it more but i like what i saw.

The battery is sanyo but i don't see any loose, there is a close, open switch on the back next to the battery. Wonder if anyone forget to turn it to close position that why it cause the loose problem? :D

i yanked the norton virus right after i boot it up..

Tonight i will format the hd and install the winxp pro clean...

My Sumdex sleeve from ebags is not here yet so i can't take my baby to school to show it off.

For anyone waiting to pull the trigger, do it ASAP....it's the best laptop or computer i ever have. I'm a happy IBM camper.

When I ordered my M3U, it said 3 weeks back ordered. But after 3 days, it's shipped. :D

So, just be patient.

Same here!

I ordered my machine last week and it arrived yesterday.
This is a really awesome machine, i'm very glad with it:

T42, 2373-M3G (ordered in Germany)

- Hydis SXGA+ display (no dead pixel !!!) / in my opinion pretty bright
- Panasonic battery (a little loose :-( )
- FPR works like a charm
- no disturbing fan noise / no fan howling / fan rarely kicks in
- no palm creak so far
- HDD is a little noisy / 7200rpm

here are some pics:

just use the ibm fingerprint software and it works.

I recognize every read i gave it....Good image everytime....wow....it's pretty cool..i was skeptical at first.

Now, i'll just wipe my finger print and i'm in...no need to type password anymore

I didn't believe that i'll use this feature too. It' s just so easy
to swipe your finger instead of typing in the password.

But i'll replace the 7200rpm with a 5400rpm one. The 60GB HDD
is too noisy for me.

Does your Radtech screensaver fit? I heard they don't fit. I orderd the Shaggymac Screen Protector for the T42 and it rocks.

the 14" radtech fits just fine....very close...i mean you have to carefully plan the cloth over the keyboard before you close your lcd....not just thow in there

shipped today!!

#29 Post by jmagbita » Thu Mar 03, 2005 9:24 pm

duh41, i ordered the 2373 M3U this past monday, the 28th of feb., and according to ibm, it was back ordered and should ship out the 10th of march, which isn't too far away..

but guess what!? i just got an email a couple minutes ago informing me that it was shipped out today!! unbelievable!!! ibm really is the best company to deal with! it says it shipped out two day air, but since it is thursday, and i take it after reading the other posts in this forum that UPS does not deliver on saturdays, i'm expecting it to arrive on monday, the 7th.. a whole week ahead of schedule!!

again, ibm really is the best! at least IMHO!

jmagbita, that's great! =)

I placed my order yesterday (2nd March). At that time, they didn't have any in stock. Been checking my order status during the day. First the estimated shipping date was the 17th of March. Now its the 14th!

Keeping my fingers crossed.
